Day 7: Keepers of Elysium

Next deadline: Thursday February 16th at 11:59 EST.

Team Members:

Captain Destin
Nirkit
A random guard

As Destin touches the last unlit torch, expecting a triumphant success, he is at least a little bit disappointed when something unexpected happens.  On touching the last torch, the torches change from:

Lit, Lit, Lit, Unlit — to — Lit, Lit, Unlit, Lit

Thankfully, Nirkit was on stand-by improving his [psychic powers] more.  Going deep within Destin’s mind, into the image of Destin embracing Chaladholg, Nirkit planted the seed that touching the unlit torch lit it, while changing the torches on either side of it.  Unfortunately, this meant that touching the third, now unlit torch wouldn’t be the end of Destin’s worries.  He was going to need a plan.

Suddenly Destin realized that touching the unlit torch lit it, while changing the torches on either side of it.  Unfortunately, this meant that touching the third, now unlit torch wouldn’t be the end of Destin’s worries.  He was going to need a plan.

But before that, Destin opened the bag, which contained… nothing?  Sure, there was some sparkly gold dust that came out and stuck on his hands, but other than that, there was nothing at all in the bag.  Unless it turned out Destin really liked sparkly hand dust, this was a pretty disappointing gift.

  1. Nirkit sat cross-legged near the boat, trying to lift it with his mind but being careful not to let it fall into the sea without its special psychic patch.

  2. Upon reading of… I MEAN FEELING. SEEING. OBSERVING THE STORM IN THE WAY THAT NORMAL PEOPLE DO IN THEIR EVERYDAY LIVES. That. After that happened, Nirkit went inside the boat, still trying to lift it with his mind in the manner previously described. He ordered the guard go outside, though, because he was fat. And fatty fat fats as buoyant as him would weigh the boat down.

  3. “I-I love sparkly hand dust!” Destin exclaimed, while supposed to be focusing on the important ancient puzzle of doom.

In fact, the boy was so unfocused, he just stared at the gold powder while his other arm solved the conundrum. He touched the torches in this sequence:

    Third
    Second
    Third
    First
